The Lake Day

Shorts: Banana Republic Outlet, $20
Top: J.Crew Outlet, $35
Scarf: Thrifted, $2
Sunglasses: Forever 21, $5
Sandals: Forever 21, $15

I live in this shirt.  And these sandals.  They seriously go well with every single thing I put on.  After a full day at the lake, this was the perfect outfit to run around in.  The shorts are SO incredibly soft (which is good for the burns on my legs...) and the scarf helped disguise my dirty little lake head.  Ditto for the sunglasses and the lack of makeup.  What can I say, its summer :)

On a random note, Greg treats his car like a child... well, better than some people treat their children... So I had to (pretend to) kiss it, to make up for hitting it with my lanyard on accident.

As if it weren't already proof about how much he loves his car- just see the photo below, and notice what he chooses to focus the camera on...

{Skirt: Gap, $13}
{Blouse: J. Crew, $30}
{Tights: American Eagle, $4}
{Boots: TJ Maxx, $30}
{Belt: Calvin Klein, Mom's}
{Necklace: The Body Shop, $3}
{Watch: Thrifted, $2}

I know I just mentioned this in a recent post- but recently I've become obsessed with nutella. For my chocoholic self, it's the perfect topping to literally everything. Bananas? Check. Bagels? Check. Just plain by itself? Definitely check. Since I've been a little bit low on things to do lately (finals isn't quite getting to me yet...) I think I'm going to see if I can find a few easy and yummy nutella snacks. If I can find some good ones, you can bet on a post.

Also, this weekend my school is having our annual semi formal Cotillion, and I'm going. I'm actually wearing a dress I bought in high school, but I've never featured it on the blog before, so I think it'll be a good little addition :)

Item #30

{Turtleneck: J. Crew, $12}
{Skirt: Gap, $13}
{Necklace: The Body Shop, $3}
{Belt: J. Crew Outlet, $14}
{Tights: American Eagle, $5}
{Shoes: Target, $12}

If you counted when I posted my items, you noticed that I only had 29 items. Reason being that I knew a little while into the challenge I would realize I really "needed" something. I know from experience how discouraging this is, so to help myself out a little bit I left room for one final item. Of course I wanted more than one- a pair of black jeans, more cardigans, and more skirts. But since I don't even own black jeans and plain cardigans aren't that exciting, I decided on this bright skirt I got on clearance at Gap. I haven't worn it yet, but I'm kind of in love with it. The kind that makes you wear things multiple times over the course of a week... or a few days. But hey, as long as the same people don't see you it doesn't count, right?

A warm outfit for a cold day

{Skirt: H&M}{Top: Old Navy}{Tights: We Love Colors}{Sweater: Rue 21}{Belt: Vintage}
{Shoes: Target}{Necklace: Gift}

I've had this outfit in mind ever since I started the challenge. I based it off of this picture from the J.Crew look book. I was planning on using my longer brown sweater instead of this short grey one, but I decided to challenge myself with this one because its length makes it a little harder for me personally to wear. All in all I think it turned out pretty well, even if it wasn't quite the look I was hoping for.

Confession.

{Skirt: Abercromie & Fitch}{Button up: J. Crew Outlet}{Tights: WeLoveColors.com}
{Sweater: Gift}{Belt: Old Navy}{Shoes: Target}{Necklace: Gift}

Maybe this is just because I'm a crazy college student- but almost every time I go back to my dorm during the day I change. Not the whole outfit- just pieces. Like, when I'm sitting in 8 a.m. Accounting I just can't help but think how much cuter a striped top would be with a certain skirt, or how a longer necklace would go better with my current outfit.... the list goes on and on. And yes, this happens almost everyday. It's the reason I have a mountain of dirty clothes in the corner of my room. But it's not from lack of planning, that I can attest to. There's just something about actually wearing an outfit for a few hours that really makes you feel what could be better. However, for some reason this has not once happened on days I wear this shirt. I'm not sure why, but it could be because I'm just so in love with it that I love every single thing its paired with. Seriously, you'll probably see me pairing this casual top with that houndstooth pencil skirt down the road- because I love it that much... oh, and because I think it might actually look kind of cool.

twenty.

What
Skirt: gift
Top: Target, $7
Belt: J. Crew Outlet, $6
Necklace: Puerto Rican Market, 50¢
Sandals: Forever 21, $18

Why
I tried to lighten up this all black outfit with the flower belt and pearl necklace, and overall I liked it.... but this was one of the days I was REALLY tempted to cheat. Seriously, a pair of little black pumps would have been so much better than sandals with this outfit. But of course, I didn't include them in my items. Lesson learned! haha.

Girl's Day

What
Skirt: Gap
Top: J. Crew
Belt: Vintage
Flats: Ross

Where
My mom decided to take me out for a girl's day to help with the bad week I've been having. We went shopping, out to eat, and to get facials and haircuts.

Why
Whenever I'm upset, putting on a cute outfit usually helps me feel better. This entire week I've been in a jeans and top slump, and it definitely wasn't helping. Anyways, I got this skirt last year and it's actually been pretty hard for me to match things to. I love it with this embellished top- any other suggestions?
