Jeans: TJ Maxx, $20
Top: Aerie, $18
Necklace: Francesca's, $18
Purse: Vintage, Mom's
Wedges: Chinese Laundry via TJ Maxx, $20
Ring: Rue 21, $4

So there's a story about this outfit- I saw this picture...

and thought it looked like the perfect casual date night outfit. Of course once I get set on wearing something it's pretty much impossible to put together something else.  This would be just fine if I actually owned a shirt like this, which of course I didn't.  So, I showed up at Greg's apartment in a t-shirt and jeans and announced that before we could go to eat we HAD to go shopping.  When you know exactly what you're looking for (a flowy striped shirt in my case) one of two things can happen:

1.  You pass over all of the unnecessary things and find exactly what you need in record time
or
2. You absolutely CANNOT find what you want and refuse to accept an alternative

Of course, the second was what happened to me.  FINALLY, after a long amount of time (I say two hours, Greg says four) I found this little pink and beige striped shirt at American Eagle and a perfect little clock necklace at Francesca's.

Then we got half priced sushi and fell asleep on the couch watching Despicable Me.

The End.

Good Day

Top: Loft- thrifted, $2
Jeans: Old Navy, $4
Jacket: Old Navy, $4
Necklace: Forever 21, $3
Shoes: Toms, gift

Today was a good day.  I found my memory card and am slowing beginning to catch up on missed outfit posts; I finished my religion paper a full day ahead of time (coming from a 100% procrastinator, this is a big thing); I got THE cutest nail polish as a mid-week pick-me-up (my first non-essentials purchase in almost 2 months.  Record?  I think so.); I'm hopefully ready for my finance exam tomorrow; I get to go to a lecture tomorrow... a fashion one; ANDDDD I get to go home this weekend to dress up my little sister for her prom.  I'm excited.  It's seriously almost like it's me going to prom.  But anyways... classes were cancelled today due to the Seniors' honors convocation, which was nice.  I spent the day working and studying though, and this simple but incredibly comfortable outfit was just the fit.

Speaking of fit, this jacket is pretty odd, which is probably why I got it so cheap and haven't worn it before.  But for some odd reason I really really like it.  Perfect for throwing on a casual layer when the weather just. won't. cooperate.

Alright, that's all for today.  I'll post tomorrow, promise!

OH. P.S.  I just learned how to fishtail braid.  It was a little messy today, but I'll be improving on that in the near future.

One More Day

{Skirt: Gap, $13}
{Top: Forever 21, $12}
{Leggings: Target, $9}
{Boots: Belk, $35}
{Rings: Silpada, $45}
{Watch: gift}
{Necklace: Forever 21, $6}

Finance test is over! So enough about that....
Tomorrow I'm leaving for spring break. I'm just going home, but I'm still pretty excited because I actually have things planned (aka I finally have something to dress up for!) Tuesday night I'm getting together with a bunch of my friends from 4-H to go to the Melting Pot, which is pretty much my favorite. Other than that there are just random things here and there- and there definitely will be regular posting :)

Also something to watch for... I've been frequenting our local thrift store and have found quite a few little diamonds in the rough (That's what I call the really ugly things I buy to fix up.) And let me tell you, I have quite the line-up. I'm planning to work on 3 or 4 dresses and a skirt. Here's a little taste of the awfulness- complete with the face (and messy dorm) of course.

The Un-wearable but actually wearable skirt.

{Skirt: Forever 21, $20}
{Top: Forever 21, $12}
{Blazer: Thrifted, $4}
{Belt: Vintage, my mom's}
{Boots: Belk, $35}
{Scarf: Old Navy, 50¢}
{Necklace: Rue 21, $1}
{Tights: WeLoveColors.com, $10}

Tired of this blazer yet? No? How about the boots? Well I hope not, because I think I'll be re wearing both these pieces all winter long... or, at least until I get more boots/outerwear.

About the title- Have you ever bought anything because you honestly loved it, but then abandoned it in the back of your closet because you can't figure out how to wear it? Well, this is one of those items for me. I seriously bought it over a year ago. I rediscovered it the other day, tags still attached, and decided to make it work. Wouldn't you know that once I picked it up I made SO many outfits around it. Too bad it took me a year to realize that... I love the way it twirls (as demonstrated) but I especially love the little polka dot/dash pattern on it. You can't really see the pattern unless you're close up, but I think it adds a nice little extra.

Side note: I'm writing this on Friday to be published on Saturday. I'm also writing Sunday's post now because.... tomorrow's my 20th birthday! Today is my friend Colleen's birthday too, so we have some fun stuff planned this weekend- I'll take plenty of pictures I'm sure. Also, my awesome boyfriend is coming up from Tennessee to spend the weekend. Maybe I can convince him to help out with some pictures...

Storytime.

Story about this outfit:
I have a seriously awesome room-mate. However, said room-mate goes to bed early because she's a very dedicated student. I however, stay up late with my neighbors. No, we don't do anything important, just laugh at youtube and occasionally pretend to be cats (actually, this only happened once- finals week our freshman year when all of us were completely and totally brain dead.) Anyways, I really try hard not to wake up my room-mate because I like her alot. Also note, I have to leave the room around 7 am to get to get to the coffeehouse on time, which is before she wakes up. Here is where the outfit comes in. Last night I forgot to plan before my room-mate went to bed. So I picked this outfit because all pieces were located on the very top of my laundry basket (the clean one this time.) Yep, so there's your fashion advice for the day- Just pick your most convenient items then put them all on. The end.

** Ok, I have to confess... The reason my laundry trick worked is because I fold by color. Yes, seriously...

Why Yes, I'm Counting This One

What
Skirt: Target, $3
Top: Forever 21, $7
Sandals: Forever 21, $18
Necklace: gift
Belt: Target, $12

Why
The other day as I was getting together my final 30 for 30 picks, I put together this exact. same. outfit. When I realized I had posted it before I was a little disappointed, but I wanted to wear it again, so I did. And since I did, I feel no guilt/shame/etc. in reposting and counting it towards one of my 30. Yay for outfits you love so much you want to wear again and again!

Pattern Mixing 101

What
Shorts: GAP Outlet, $10
Top: Forever 21, $12
Belt: Vintage, My mom's
Sandals: Forever 21, $17
Scarf, Target, $10
Earrings: Vintage, My mom's

Where
I actually wore this outfit about 2 weeks ago on the car trip to 4-H Round-up, but for some reason the pictures just didn't turn out so I'm just now posting new ones. Also, I know I'm REALLY late to jump on the pattern mixing train, but it was hard to break old habits of really matching. haha. I really loved this floral scarf and striped top together though. I think I'm going to do more of the pattern play soon :)

Girly with a Twist

What
Dress: Target, $17
Top: Forever 21, $12
Belt: The Limited (came with pants)
Chain Necklace: Forever 21, $6
Pearl and Chain Necklace: Puerto Rican Market, 50¢
Sandals: Forever 21, $17

Why
This isn't by any means a risky outfit, but I had so much fun with it because I really did step outside my comfort zone. Normally I would've just paired this dress with a cute jacket and vintage looking necklace, but I really like how it turned out with the layered top and tough looking necklaces!

For other remixers, have you noticed yourself taking more risks throughout this challenge?

Hearts & Stripes

What
Skirt: Target, $3
Top: Forever 21, $11
Sandals: Forever 21, $19
Necklace: Gift
Belt: Target, $17

Why
I really ended up loving this look. I started out with the turquoise and black and white, but then added the red necklace and lipstick for another pop of color. Another element I tried to incorporate in the this outfit is the tough and girly mixture- as you can see, the studded black belt and gladiator sandals add a little toughness to the girly heart necklace and bright turquoise skirt.

On another note, I'm terribly sorry for the lack of blogging this week- it really has just been one of "those" weeks :( I'm working on getting caught up this weekend though!

Happy Friday!
