The bland day

Skirt: H&M, $16
Top: Old Navy, $5
Scarf: Old Navy, $9
Necklace: Gift
Sandals: Forever 21, $15
Sunglasses: Forever 21, $5

I spent this past long weekend relaxing (and getting sunburned) at the lake, hanging out with my family and my boy, making some delicious cake pops, and sleeping alotttt.  So get ready for a few catch-up posts!

This outfit is from last Thursday, when I was just burned out (having few clean and even fewer put away clean clothes just kills your creativity.) As you can see, it was a good thing I took a quick blog break :)

For me, scarves are always my go-to to spice up a boring outfit- even in the summer!  I've found that lightweight summer scarves are perfect for keeping you a little warm in a chilly office without overheating you when you go outside.  Perfect!

Summer faves

Dress: Forever 21, $15
Vest: Thrifted, $5
Scarf: Swap with Ramsey
Sandals: Forever 21, $15
Deer Ring: H&M, $8 for four
Belt: Mom's
Watch: Thrifted, $2
Bag: Mom's

Things I can't stop wearing this summer:
  1. Loose wavy hair- so easy!  It only takes me 10 minutes in the morning!!
  2. My mom's vintage belt and purse. Classics.
  3. My swap items from Ramsey!  That girl sent me scarves, belts, tops, jewelry a skirt, and a jacket!
  4. Fun nail polish.  I never do my nails during the school year... But now? Blue, mango, red, fushia, lime-  Just to name a few
  5. Dresses and skirts.  The other day my boyfriends mom asked me if I owned a pair of jeans.  The answer is yes.  Too many.  But I just can't make myself wear them when the weather is this nice!

The Scarf and the Lawn Mower

Note: I'm not doing some sort of creepy wave, I was keeping my little hair wispies from blowing in my face, although it does look pretty awkward.  Same with the photo below...

Top: Charlotte Russe, $5
Shorts: Gap, $10
Sandals: Target, $12
Belt: NY & Co., $4
Scarf: Swap with Ramsey

Normally I wouldn't take pictures with my dad's new lawn mower- but seeing how close it's color was to the bright orange in my scarf, I just couldn't resist.

I spent most of this weekend leading a retreat as part of my internship with 4-H.  The retreat was a service learning institute for high school 4-H'ers and was, in my opinion, a pretty big success.

Also, if you're interested in Tennessee 4-H, follow us on Twitter, facebook, and bloglovin!

Just a little Vent

{Top: idk, Mom's}
{Jeans: T.J. Maxx, $20}
{Flats: Modcloth, $25}
{Blazer: Thrifted, $4}
{Necklace: Forever 21, gift}
{Purse: Charlotte Russe, $13}
{Scarf: Old Navy, $1}

I consider myself a generally positive person. I honestly do see the bright side of (most) things and I'll do just about anything to avoid a fight with my friends or family. But dang, sometimes I wish I could let out all my frustrations and vent to the world. I won't make you all listen to all that because I do want to keep the tone of this blog positive. But I will say... Be careful with the words you use to your loved ones. For instance: When using the phrase "Guess what?!" You should generally follow it up with something positive.

Correct Example: "Guess what?! I got this awesome silk scarf for ONE DOLLAR!"
Incorrect Example: "Guess what?! The divorce finally went through!"

Whew, ok. That's the end of my venting for now. Again, I don't mean for this to be a negative post in anyways. Actually when I told the story above to some of my friends it even got a few laughs.

I hope everyone else is having a good beginning to the week... And if any of you have days like me and just need to vent- feel free to email me! I'm always willing to listen :)

The Final Countdown

What
Dress: Forever 21, $20
Scarf (Worn as Belt): Old Navy, $2
Bracelets: REALLY old
Sandals: Forever 21, $18

Why
I love this little dress, but sometimes I get a little stumped on how to mix it up. This time around I added a scarf belt to give it a pop of color and my black bangles for a little mod touch. Thats pretty much it for the day- only 3 more days of summer!

Summer Scarves

This is my bunny, Benny :)

What
Dress: Aerie, $10
Denim Jacket: Gadzooks, $25
Sandals: Forever 21, $20
Scarf: Old Navy, $9
Belt: New York and Company, $4
Earrings: Puerto Rico
Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4

Where
Work- we had pool duty today to keep track of our 300+ kids that are here on campus for 4-H Electric Camp.

Why
I know lots of people who refuse to wear scarves unless it's cold out... However, cool lightweight scarves can be a great accessory to your warm weather outfits too. I added this colorful triangle shaped scarf to my simple white dropwaist dress for an easy but put together summer look.

Work Wear

These sunglasses are a bit too "bug-eyes" for me- but I kind of like goofing off in them :)
About the Outfit
Blouse: Department Store, $15
Pencil Skirt: My sister's
Heels: Department Store, $12
Belt: Came with a dress I bought from Ross
Scarf: Old Navy, $2
Bracelet: Gift
Fun Sunglasses: Rue 21, $2

About the Day
Just another day at the office. For some reason I had the desire to look extra "businessy" today. I tied a printed scarf on to hold my hair back and to keep the outfit from being too boring.

My Mom's Scarf

What
Top: Old Navy, $6
Shorts: Old Navy, $4
Scarf (worn as belt): Vintage
Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4
Bracelets: Rue 21, $5 and Old Navy, $3
Earrings: Puerto Rican Jewelry Store, $12
Sandals: Payless, $3

Why
I really wanted to try out the turban look, but just as I was getting ready to walk out the door, I changed my scarf into a belt. Maybe one of these days.... what are your opinions on headscarves and/or turbans (I'm thinking about the type that SJP wore in SATC2)?

My New Favorite Dress

What
Dress: Old Navy, $3.50
Scarf: Old Navy, $9
Cardigan: Old Navy, $15
Belt: NY & Co., $3
Earrings: American Eagle, $12
Wedges: Target, $15
Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4

Where
Church and hanging out with some friends

Why
I LOVE this dress. It's just a simple tank dress, but the fact that its so comfy and simple makes it like a blank canvas. Since it's going to be so easy to dress up or down, I have a feeling I'll be wearing quite a bit, and at $3.50 on clearance, I think it was a pretty good buy :)

The Belted Scarf

What

Dress: Old Navy, $5

Scarf: Old Navy, $9

Sandals: Payless, $3

Belt: Charlotte Russe, $9

Ring: Gift

Where

Hanging out after work

Why

Whenever I try a new trend I usually like to wear it somewhere low key first, that way I can get a feel for it without completely throwing myself out there. I threw on this t-shirt dress outfit after work the other day for a little hanging out. Although I liked this look, I’m not sure I’ll be belting my scarves anymore- It kind of reminds me of the movies with the dorky guy who belts his tie. I’m glad I tried it though, every time I try something new it makes me eager for more!

Pretty Pictures and Pretty Tights

What
Skirt: Old Navy
Top: Wet Seal
Scarf: American Eagle
Tights: Target
Flats: Ross
Headband: Claire's
Earrings: Claires
Sunglasses: Puerto Rican Market
Bag: Forever 21
Ring: Forever 21

Where
Classes, work, and to explore the wetlands on campus

Why
I love bright tights; i feel like they're a perfect transition piece to wear during the cooler Spring months. The rest of the outfit is pretty simple to keep from going overboard with the statement tights- but I like it alot :) On another note, I haven't been able to get to Target to check out the Liberty of London collection yet, but I'm dying to! Only five more days until easter break and shopping time!!

Walking on Sunshine

I actually do have an excuse for my lack of blogging this past week- after coming back to school in Pittsburgh I realized I left my camera cord back home in Tennessee. Of course, the ONE thing my mac doesn't have is an XD picture card slot. Oh well. Here's some outfit pictures from a lovely Saturday at the lake with my lovely (albeit crazy) friends

What
Jeans: Old Navy
Top: Old Navy
Scarf: Old Navy
Flats: Goodwill (only 50 cents!!)

Where
To a local state park to spend a beautiful Saturday with my friends :)

Why
If you couldn’t tell, I shop at Old Navy alot. The brand was actually never one of my favorites, but I started working there 2 years ago. I’ve become addicted to the ease of mixing basics like tops, skirts, jeans, and simple dresses with fun accessories. It’s a pretty good recipe for a busy college student if you ask me!
