Simple Again? Yes, Please.

What
Shorts: American Eagle
Top: Old Navy
Flats: Old Navy
Headband: Forever 21
Turquoise Ring: Bought from Tibetan Monks at a museum

Where
Hanging out during my last day of Easter break, and then flying back to Pittsburgh

Why
I know this look more than a little resembles what I wore yesterday, but again- I was a bad packer for this trip : ( I made sure to wear flats so that I could easily slip them off at the airport, and I chose the floral headband to amp up the in girly-ness in the top- but honestly that's all the thought that went into today's outfit.

I'd love to say I'm super excited to get back to school, because I ALWAYS am... but honestly, I'm dreading going back for this last month. I'd so much rather just stay in TN and start on my internship now (I'll post details as it gets closer!) So I blame my lack of creativity on today's (slightly) sad mood. Better looks to come, I promise!

Simple Southern Style

What
Jeans (Rolled into Capris): Old Navy
Top: J.C. Penney's- I know I wear White T's WAY too often, but they're so perfect for a comfy but put together outfit, and as long as you're mixing it up, I think it's OK to wear items frequently
Camisole: Old Navy
Hat: Forever 21
Heels: Dillard's
Necklace: Borrowed from my Madre : )

Where
After Church I changed into this comfy ensemble for a day with the family.

Why
Note to self and others: Never, EVER pack when emotionally upset. This causes you to end up at your destination with nothing but tons of random pieces that do not match. You will also forget to pack any and all accessories, more than one pair of shoes, and also possibly your hairbrush and other necessities. The only positive thing that could ever come out of this is the excuse to go shopping- which in an unstable state may or may not be good for your financial situation. Haha. Luckily I was able to snatch up a few cheap accessories plus a pair of super cute shoes that helped me keep my wardrobe on track for this quick trip home. My sister said my new hat made me look like a gardner, but I like it, and I especially can't wait to pair it with a floaty sundress for the hot southern sun this summer. Another note: Always leave a few decent pieces at home, you never know when you'll wish you had them. Anyways, today was a pretty decent day, I love Easter Sundays :) But it got me thinking, and since I'm trying to be more open with ya'll (excuse my southern-ness, every once and a while it just comes out, haha.) I just wanted to share some of the things I thought about:

In our world today there are numerous religions, races, and political beliefs. When we're truly honest with ourselves we realize that none of us really know what is exactly perfectly right. It makes me really sad that we're all so afraid of offending somebody that we often steer away from discussing any of these "touchy" subjects. All we know is what we believe personally. When I wish someone Merry Christmas or Happy Easter, like most others who believe in these types of holidays, I merely want to share my beliefs and well wishes, whether or not they share my same beliefs. In the same respect, I enjoy receiving Happy Hanukkah's and the like. Instead of constantly tearing at each others' beliefs, let's take the time to appreciate our differences and celebrate the things we have in common... like the love of fashion, because you better believe if I could buy myself a new outfit for everyone's different holidays I definitely would :)

Girl's Day

What
Skirt: Gap
Top: J. Crew
Belt: Vintage
Flats: Ross

Where
My mom decided to take me out for a girl's day to help with the bad week I've been having. We went shopping, out to eat, and to get facials and haircuts.

Why
Whenever I'm upset, putting on a cute outfit usually helps me feel better. This entire week I've been in a jeans and top slump, and it definitely wasn't helping. Anyways, I got this skirt last year and it's actually been pretty hard for me to match things to. I love it with this embellished top- any other suggestions?

The Bucket List and Other Life Lessons

Up until now, I have used this blog to share nothing but fashion related things- and while I do want to keep fashion as the main focus, I also want to use this blog as a creative outlet to share my life.

If you’ve been following my blog you’ve probably noticed that I haven’t blogged this past week. It’s been a tough week, and I think the details are all a little too personal to share here. But I’ve always been a strong person, and I never thought that something like what I’ve been dealing with would bother me as bad as it has. And when I realized there was nothing I could do to make it go away, I started to think of things I could do to put it out of my mind- which got me thinking about a bucket list.

I’ve always thought about one but never really had the drive to start on it. When I started writing my bucket list I realized I was writing about doing things that were all dangerous and scary, and I was doing that because I felt like nothing could compare to the pain I was experiencing now, so what did I care if I was doing risky things. Don’t worry- I soon got my mind back and since then I've been thinking about lots of things that in the past scared me to think about. I realized there were many parts of my life I was holding back in because I was scared- scared of what people would think, scared if I was wrong, scared is I was right, etc. After that I came to the conclusion that you have to live life fully and completely, without holding back just because you’re scared of what will happen; because if you hold back you're missing the point of living. And, unfortunately, if you do that you're eventually going to lose the things that are most important to you.

After taking all these things into consideration I altered my bucket list just a bit- it still includes a few dangerous (and likely stupid) things, but they are all things I have wanted to do for a long time- not things I just want to do for the rush.

So here’s my bucket list. I'm not ever going to say it's final, because I think of new things all the time that I want to do in my life; but this it is for now:

1) Sky-dive
2) Learn to fly a plane
3) Swim with sharks, without a cage
4) Climb a mountain, a big one
5) Try every food I am offered at least once
6) Get a tattoo- this one is more difficult. I've always wanted to get a tattoo just to be able to say I did, but I can hardly settle on what to wear every day, how the heck am I going to decide what to wear for life?! So I'm thinking a freckle. Don't laugh, I know it's lame, but it's also the best of both worlds, at least in my eyes
7) Visit every continent
8) Dip my toes in every ocean
9) Get over my asthma enough to run a marathon
10) Get over my fear of needles and donate Blood
11) Change someone's life

Whew, that was long. So I know this probably isn't what you were expecting to see when you found my fashion blog- but I think that sharing more than just what I wear every day will make this more complete, both for me as the author, and for you as the reader. I look forward to working on my bucket list, and I especially look forward to planning what to wear as I complete each of these things!

Got a bucket list? Leave me a comment and tell me about it!

Weekend Wear

What
Jeans: TJ Maxx
Top: Old Navy
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Forever 21
Bangles: Old Navy & Rue 21
Cardigan: Old Navy
Sunglasses: Puerto Rican Market

Where
Grocery shopping, grabbing lunch, and hanging out with some friends

Why
For me, weekend outfits have to be cute, but definitely comfy. I LOVE this top. The color and cut of it is so soft and feminine, plus its perfect for a day of lounging. I added my go-to skinnies, leopard flats, and some jewelry to pull everything together. How cute is this necklace?? I've never really been an owl lover- but for some reason I'm in love with owl jewelry, especially this vintage looking one from forever 21 ($4!!) And this scenery- everyday I go exploring for new places to take pictures on campus, and everyday I find somewhere new and beautiful :)
