Over the Weekend

(L-R: Colleen, Sadie, Rachel, and me- for once in my life I'm the tall one!)

Normally I don't have pictures from an exciting weekend to share, but I do now!  This past weekend Greg drove up from Tennessee and we went to Spring Cotillion with a couple of my friends.  I didn't want to overload you with pictures, but here are a few of my favorites...

Dress: Forever 21, $25
Shoes: Paris Hilton via TJ Maxx, $20
Earrings: Cato's, $2

I actually got my dress while I was in high school (and hadn't put it on since then.) A few weeks ago I got slightly nervous that maybe I underestimated my almost zero weight gain during college (Yay for no freshman fifteen!)  But luckily it still fit pretty perfectly.  And how perfect does Greg match??  We stopped by Macy's during a quick break on Saturday and picked out his shirt and tie in about 10 minutes time. Bonus points 'cause they were both on sale ;)

This is my friend and neighbor Sadie.  Every time a formalish event comes around she claims to be 100% helpless with doing her own hair and I usually volunteer to take over.  Although you would never be able to tell, her hair is a lot thinner than it looks.  Last cotillion she wanted a little bit of a poof with some volumous curls and we actually had to build a poof around a half up bun on the top of her head because it absolutely refused to be teased.  Surprisingly, this was her first up-do.  I thought the braid and curls looked pretty awesome though!

And on top of that awesome weekend- today is Greg's 21st birthday.  Yeah, I'm a little scared.... Just kidding ;)  Even though I'm almost 500 miles away and 100% broke, I have a few little birthday surprises up my sleeve.  As soon as I don't have to keep them a secret from him anymore I'll be sure to blog about it.  Hopefully everything turns out good!

Happy 21st Birthday Greg!

Almost tough

Jacket: Forever 21, $30
Top: Charlotte Russe, $4
Jeans: TJ Maxx, $20
Shoes: Payless, $18
Necklace: American Eagle, gift
Clutch: The Limited, $15

Lately I've been dressing pretty girly with almost a bohemian edge (at least that's how my boss described it)  but for some reason I wanted something a little different today.  Honestly though, I think it's just because I thought my (borrowed) nail polish would look good with my leather jacket.  There's something about glittery polish that made me want to tough it up a bit- at least this time.

This time the tights will last.

Dress: Forever 21, $20
Tights: Urban Outfitters, boyfriend :)
Ruffle Top (Under Dress): Forever 21, $15
Cardigan: Gap, $10
Flats: Target, $9
Necklace: Puerto Rico, 50¢
Coat: Macy's, $30
Purse: Thrifted, $4

First of all, sorry for the dirty shoes.  Second of all, this could be one of my favorite outfits ever.  Unfortunately this was overshadowed by a few bad things, such as the freezing weather, an inability to decide on absolutely anything, and the loss of daylight (and therefore the not so desirable picture taking conditions) which pretty much just created a bad mood for me.  Oh well, we all have those days.  What can you do??

On a much brighter note, Greg came to visit this weekend and we got to dress up for Spring Cotillion (a dance my school hosts.)  So I have plenty of fun pictures to share :)

Hello High Heels

{Dress: Old Navy, $4}
{Sweater: Old Navy, $9}
{Tights: American Eagle, $3}
{Scarf: Old Navy, $9}
{Necklace: Forever 21, gift}
{Shoes: Target, $12}

Although I wore heels almost everyday in high school, I could count on one hand the amount of times I've pulled out a pair for classes in college. Not that I'm terrible with walking in heels- but the over casualness of my school has gotten me to choose comfort 9 times out of 10. Like this outfit (not including the shoes), the dress might very well have been meant to be worn as a nightgown and the sweater is pretty much just a blanket with sleeves. Oh yes, this is a Friday outfit.

Have a good weekend everyone!

24 March 2011

{Skirt: Gap, $13}
{Blouse: J. Crew, $30}
{Tights: American Eagle, $4}
{Boots: TJ Maxx, $30}
{Belt: Calvin Klein, Mom's}
{Necklace: The Body Shop, $3}
{Watch: Thrifted, $2}

I know I just mentioned this in a recent post- but recently I've become obsessed with nutella. For my chocoholic self, it's the perfect topping to literally everything. Bananas? Check. Bagels? Check. Just plain by itself? Definitely check. Since I've been a little bit low on things to do lately (finals isn't quite getting to me yet...) I think I'm going to see if I can find a few easy and yummy nutella snacks. If I can find some good ones, you can bet on a post.

Also, this weekend my school is having our annual semi formal Cotillion, and I'm going. I'm actually wearing a dress I bought in high school, but I've never featured it on the blog before, so I think it'll be a good little addition :)

Back to the Sunny Side

{Skirt: H&M, $17}
{Lace Top: Charlotte Russe, $7}
{Belt: Aeropostale, about 6 years ago...}
{Tights: Mom's from high school}
{Boots: thrifted, $4}
{Necklace: Puerto Rico, $20}

I apologize for my little rant yesterday- but hey, everybody has their days... to combat my bad days lately, here are some really great things that happened today:

  • I didn't rip these tights- well, I didn't rip them further. There are two neat little holes on the knees (I wore them backwards today) and they haven't run at alllll. Crazy.
  • I'm only 2 classes away from a Spanish minor- and I wasn't even trying.
  • I was gifted a gigantic jar of nutella Sunday night- which has since become my favorite thing ever.
  • There was a (lacrosse?) game going on right out side the window of my corporate finance class this afternoon- and they played 90s music for a large chunk of class. oh yessss.
  • Best friend from Canada told me she was sending me a package! Because she moved in the 8th grade- we've only seen each other 3 or 4 times since then. But seriously, I know I can always always always count on her. Now that's something awesome.

Well that's all for today. I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the week!

Just a little Vent

{Top: idk, Mom's}
{Jeans: T.J. Maxx, $20}
{Flats: Modcloth, $25}
{Blazer: Thrifted, $4}
{Necklace: Forever 21, gift}
{Purse: Charlotte Russe, $13}
{Scarf: Old Navy, $1}

I consider myself a generally positive person. I honestly do see the bright side of (most) things and I'll do just about anything to avoid a fight with my friends or family. But dang, sometimes I wish I could let out all my frustrations and vent to the world. I won't make you all listen to all that because I do want to keep the tone of this blog positive. But I will say... Be careful with the words you use to your loved ones. For instance: When using the phrase "Guess what?!" You should generally follow it up with something positive.

Correct Example: "Guess what?! I got this awesome silk scarf for ONE DOLLAR!"
Incorrect Example: "Guess what?! The divorce finally went through!"

Whew, ok. That's the end of my venting for now. Again, I don't mean for this to be a negative post in anyways. Actually when I told the story above to some of my friends it even got a few laughs.

I hope everyone else is having a good beginning to the week... And if any of you have days like me and just need to vent- feel free to email me! I'm always willing to listen :)

Polka Dot Tights- Attempt 3.

{Dress: Forever 21, $20}
{Cardigan: J. Crew, $15}
{Tights: Urban Outfitters, gift}
{Flats: Target, $9}
{Pearl Necklace: Puerto Rico, 50¢}
{Chain Necklace: Forever 21, $6}

Greg's always been willing to help with blogging/outfits/etc., but he's usually a little hesitant- especially when it comes to taking pictures in overly populated areas. And once he confessed he didn't always read what I wrote on my blog, but just liked to look at the pictures I always gave him a hard time. So can you imagine my surprise (and excitedness!) when I received these polka dot tights in the mail, compliments of Greg. He actually had been reading my blog- not just looking at pictures, and when he read that my favorite polka dot tights (pair two...) had finally died, he had a new pair sent. Isn't that cute? I think I'll keep him ;)
