Red Lips and Big Flowers

Dress: Thirfted and hemmed, $2
Belt: Steve and Barry's, $8
Wedges: TJ Maxx, $20
Earrings: Claire's, $3
Purse: Vintage,  I think it might be my great grandma's?

I promise I have been getting dressed and taking pictures the past few days, but with the warm weather outside and the last few days without work, I just couldn't bring myself to come inside and blog.  So here I am.  And here is what I wore last Thursday.  We had a little bar-b-que birthday dinner for one of my mom's friends, and then I ditched the purse/heels/lipstick for some sandals and headed downtown for Sundown in the City, a free summer concert series in Knoxville.  Even though there's usually good bands, I never really go for the music.  To me, the best part is the ice cream and people watching (They estimate that 10-15k people come on good weather nights!)

Alright, back out to the sun!

I have blogs already written for the next few days though, yay for being productive :)

I know I just mentioned this in a recent post- but recently I've become obsessed with nutella. For my chocoholic self, it's the perfect topping to literally everything. Bananas? Check. Bagels? Check. Just plain by itself? Definitely check. Since I've been a little bit low on things to do lately (finals isn't quite getting to me yet...) I think I'm going to see if I can find a few easy and yummy nutella snacks. If I can find some good ones, you can bet on a post.

Also, this weekend my school is having our annual semi formal Cotillion, and I'm going. I'm actually wearing a dress I bought in high school, but I've never featured it on the blog before, so I think it'll be a good little addition :)

I apologize for my little rant yesterday- but hey, everybody has their days... to combat my bad days lately, here are some really great things that happened today:

  • I didn't rip these tights- well, I didn't rip them further. There are two neat little holes on the knees (I wore them backwards today) and they haven't run at alllll. Crazy.
  • I'm only 2 classes away from a Spanish minor- and I wasn't even trying.
  • I was gifted a gigantic jar of nutella Sunday night- which has since become my favorite thing ever.
  • There was a (lacrosse?) game going on right out side the window of my corporate finance class this afternoon- and they played 90s music for a large chunk of class. oh yessss.
  • Best friend from Canada told me she was sending me a package! Because she moved in the 8th grade- we've only seen each other 3 or 4 times since then. But seriously, I know I can always always always count on her. Now that's something awesome.

Well that's all for today. I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the week!

Thrifted Treasure.

{Blazer: Thrifted, $3}

{Tights: WeLoveColors.com, $10}
{Flats: Target, $15}
{Necklace: gift}

{Belt: Old Navy Men's, $1}

I came across this little blazer while thrifting the other day. At first I just saw an ugly old brown thing... but as I gave it a second look I started to see how much I really liked it. To start out with, it's not just brown. There's all of these other colors lightly woven in- deep jewel tones of blues, greens, and maroons. Also, it has the softest suede elbows (elbow pads?) And even though it's obviously pretty old (I can tell from the tag on the inside) the fabric, 100% wool, is in nearly perfect condition. To think I got it for $3!

Also, thank you all for your sweet comments and well wishes! After a 13 hour sleep I'm feeling much better- although my lack of voice begs to differ :/

My mom used to take us thrifting every once and a while when I was younger, but as I started to get older brand names suddenly became SUPER important and I pretty much stopped thrifting items- unless it was last season's abercrombie or hollister, etc. I've really gotten into thrifting the last few years though and found some great stuff. Of course, you have to keep in mind, I'm the type of person who looks at an incredibly ugly oversized grandma dress and says, "I see potential!" Despite that, I've still managed to find some wonderful items that didn't need large amounts of TLC to make them wearable. One of the most recent examples of this is this vintage(?) leopard print skirt I got at the local salvation army for $2. Such a steal! So there mom, when you thought all I brought home was more work than it was worth- Here is an example you were wrong :)
