A New Job and a Blogger Swap

Dress: Target, $40
Belt: Swap with Ramsey
Shoes: Walmart, $10

Today was one of those really good days.  It wasn't filled with hanging out with tons of friends or shopping to my hearts content- but the realization of how incredibly blessed I am to have so many opportunities in front of me.  Mainly speaking of my 2 summer internships, the second of which I started today!

Internship 1 is the same job as last year, as an assistant in the TN state 4-H Office.  4-H is a youth development organization that is seriously filled with fun, friends, competitions, and allll kinds of good stuff.   I was really involved in 4-H during my high school years, so to be able to be paid to do all of the things I used to love doing as a participant is simply amazing.  Everyday is different in this job, and I actually travel alot, which is awesome.  Some days I'm teaching sessions on anything from sewing to leadership skills (and making up my own curriculum!) and other days I'm working with social media and alumni affairs.

Because this is already a longer than normal post, I'll hold off and write about internship 2 tomorrow.  But just a tad bit to hold you over- I get to work with all spectrums of marketing with both West Town and Knoxville Center Malls.  And what does my long term assignment book look like?  Organizing the mall's own back to school fashion show and Fashion Night Out.  Incredible?  Yes.

Last thing today... Did you notice my awesome little belt via swap with Ramsey??  We're doing a little blogger swap, which you will be seeing more of in the next little bit.  I'm so excited to see what she comes up with for the things I sent her.  And if you haven't seen her blog before (which you should have)  then go right now.  Seriously.  She puts together the most amazing outfits, all on a college girl budget!

Red Lips and Big Flowers

Dress: Thirfted and hemmed, $2
Belt: Steve and Barry's, $8
Wedges: TJ Maxx, $20
Earrings: Claire's, $3
Purse: Vintage,  I think it might be my great grandma's?

I promise I have been getting dressed and taking pictures the past few days, but with the warm weather outside and the last few days without work, I just couldn't bring myself to come inside and blog.  So here I am.  And here is what I wore last Thursday.  We had a little bar-b-que birthday dinner for one of my mom's friends, and then I ditched the purse/heels/lipstick for some sandals and headed downtown for Sundown in the City, a free summer concert series in Knoxville.  Even though there's usually good bands, I never really go for the music.  To me, the best part is the ice cream and people watching (They estimate that 10-15k people come on good weather nights!)

Alright, back out to the sun!

I have blogs already written for the next few days though, yay for being productive :)

The Final Countdown

What
Dress: Forever 21, $20
Scarf (Worn as Belt): Old Navy, $2
Bracelets: REALLY old
Sandals: Forever 21, $18

Why
I love this little dress, but sometimes I get a little stumped on how to mix it up. This time around I added a scarf belt to give it a pop of color and my black bangles for a little mod touch. Thats pretty much it for the day- only 3 more days of summer!

Summer Scarves

This is my bunny, Benny :)

What
Dress: Aerie, $10
Denim Jacket: Gadzooks, $25
Sandals: Forever 21, $20
Scarf: Old Navy, $9
Belt: New York and Company, $4
Earrings: Puerto Rico
Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4

Where
Work- we had pool duty today to keep track of our 300+ kids that are here on campus for 4-H Electric Camp.

Why
I know lots of people who refuse to wear scarves unless it's cold out... However, cool lightweight scarves can be a great accessory to your warm weather outfits too. I added this colorful triangle shaped scarf to my simple white dropwaist dress for an easy but put together summer look.

Work Wear

These sunglasses are a bit too "bug-eyes" for me- but I kind of like goofing off in them :)
About the Outfit
Blouse: Department Store, $15
Pencil Skirt: My sister's
Heels: Department Store, $12
Belt: Came with a dress I bought from Ross
Scarf: Old Navy, $2
Bracelet: Gift
Fun Sunglasses: Rue 21, $2

About the Day
Just another day at the office. For some reason I had the desire to look extra "businessy" today. I tied a printed scarf on to hold my hair back and to keep the outfit from being too boring.

Hearts & Stripes

What
Skirt: Target, $3
Top: Forever 21, $11
Sandals: Forever 21, $19
Necklace: Gift
Belt: Target, $17

Why
I really ended up loving this look. I started out with the turquoise and black and white, but then added the red necklace and lipstick for another pop of color. Another element I tried to incorporate in the this outfit is the tough and girly mixture- as you can see, the studded black belt and gladiator sandals add a little toughness to the girly heart necklace and bright turquoise skirt.

On another note, I'm terribly sorry for the lack of blogging this week- it really has just been one of "those" weeks :( I'm working on getting caught up this weekend though!

Happy Friday!

The Belted Scarf

What

Dress: Old Navy, $5

Scarf: Old Navy, $9

Sandals: Payless, $3

Belt: Charlotte Russe, $9

Ring: Gift

Where

Hanging out after work

Why

Whenever I try a new trend I usually like to wear it somewhere low key first, that way I can get a feel for it without completely throwing myself out there. I threw on this t-shirt dress outfit after work the other day for a little hanging out. Although I liked this look, I’m not sure I’ll be belting my scarves anymore- It kind of reminds me of the movies with the dorky guy who belts his tie. I’m glad I tried it though, every time I try something new it makes me eager for more!

May 11: Shades of Green

What
Skirt: Target, $15
Top: Kohl's, $4
Heels: Rue 21, $2
Belt: Charlotte Russe, $9
Earrings: Puerto Rican Market, $12
Ring: gift :)

Where
Today was my second day on the job at the State 4-H office. I like it, a lot. This morning my task was to organize service project locations for the Junior High Academic Conference coming up in June. During my break my dad took me to lunch at a deli he used to own on campus, Good Times Deli. If you're ever in Knoxville and want a good sandwich, go there.

Why
For anyone who isn't familiar with the 4-H organization, or if you didn't hear enough yesterday, lol, the 4-H colors are kelly green and white. Even though this skirt has more than just kelly green, I couldn't help but think of 4-H when I first bought it last summer. Since it was pretty warm today I added a simple fitted top and a belt and earrings to pull it together. For my hair I just popped in some sponge rollers to give it a little wave, then braided the side back to keep my hair out of my face.

Blue Skies

What
Tank Top: Old Navy
Button up: Old Navy
Shorts: Old Navy
Belt: Old Navy
Sandals: Gap
Earrings: Puerto Rican Craft Booth

Where
Classes and a chick-fil-a run

Why
Thank goodness for warm and sunny days! Although they really make it hard for me to focus on school they give a little bit more freedom with the daily outfits. I threw on this button-up (or button down?) as a layering piece since there was a slight breeze. Then I just added some silver accessories to go with my shoes to complete the outfit. It made me think about mixing different metal colors in one outfit (silver, gold, bronze) - I've seen it on some other fashion bloggers, and it looks really cool most of the time; I think I'll be trying it soon!

Here Comes Summer

What
Skirt: Old Navy
Top: Old Navy
Cardigan: Old Navy
Flats: Old Navy
Belt: Vintage
Headband: Forever 21

Where
Classes and a Barbecue (goodness I love free food events on campus)

Why
I promise I didn't mean to wear head to toe Old Navy, but I guess that's what I end up with after taking advantage of some seriously awesome employee discounts for the past 2 years. This morning when I checked the weather (It was 40 F) I told myself for some crazy reason that this skirt and cardigan would keep me warm enough. Of course it didn't and I ended up wrapping my legs in a hoodie during class, but the 65 high today made it all work out in the end. This outfit/weather/summeritis makes me SO ready for summer.
