Some Days are just Mom Days

Sweater: Old Navy, gift
Top: J.Crew, gift
Jeans: TJ Maxx, $15
Boots: Francesca's, gift
Bracelets: Spain
Glasses: 7 for all Mankind

The day I wore this outfit I realized that my top, sweater, and boots were all from my mom.  Granted, I picked them all out, but as my Aunt says, "Satisfaction over surprise..."  And then today, I finally got my Valentine's card from mom- with a picture of us at the airport the day I left for study abroad, and also a super sappy mom note.

I'm close to my dad too- like, ridiculous "daddy's girl" type close.  But some days, you really just need your mom.  Whether its a sad breakup, a need for some instant motivation, or advice on the tough stuff, Moms can be the biggest blessing- and I can say that now that I don't live with my mom anymore ;)

Alright, I'm done with the sap for now.  Just had to get that out there.

Thanks mom.

Chubby Cheeks

Dress: Old Navy, $15
Wedges: Old Navy, $12
Necklace: Urban Outfitters, $10

As you can probably tell, these pictures are from a few days after I got my wisdom teeth out.  Because I had some time sensitive things to get done at work, I headed back before I looked quite normal... and these are the more flattering pictures, if that tells you anything.  For some reason, Greg thought it would be a good idea to take some straight on, deer in the headlights meets chipmunk headshots.  Keepers?  I think not.

On a more promising note, tomorrow I start my second internship- as a marketing assistant with Simon Malls!  I'll be doing social media marketing, events and promotions, and displays for 2 malls in Knoxville.  I'm SO excited, but a little bit nervous too.  I'll be sure to write about how everything goes :)

This may just be my favorite outfit

Skirt: Old Navy, $20
Top: J.Crew, $30
Wedges: Modcloth, $25
Bag: Coach, thrifted
Necklace: Forever 21, $5
Watch: Thrifted, $2
Bangles: Rue 21, $1
Belt: NY & Co., $4

You know the feeling you get when you put on an outfit you absolutely LOVE?  I had that feeling all day long when I wore this.  And honestly, I don't remember the last time so many people have commented on it- everyone wanted to know where my skirt was from!

I've had this skirt for at least 3 years, and probably worn it less than 3 times.  It's not that I don't love it- rather, it's that sometimes it's hard to wear this skirt in a non-grandma type of way.  Lucky for me, Ashley styled it up for the EBEW floral challenge.  I loved the way she wore it so much, I seriously wore this the very next day.

I think I need to rediscover more items from the back of my closet.  Surprisingly, it was more satisfying than wearing something new... this time at least.

Hello High Heels

{Dress: Old Navy, $4}
{Sweater: Old Navy, $9}
{Tights: American Eagle, $3}
{Scarf: Old Navy, $9}
{Necklace: Forever 21, gift}
{Shoes: Target, $12}

Although I wore heels almost everyday in high school, I could count on one hand the amount of times I've pulled out a pair for classes in college. Not that I'm terrible with walking in heels- but the over casualness of my school has gotten me to choose comfort 9 times out of 10. Like this outfit (not including the shoes), the dress might very well have been meant to be worn as a nightgown and the sweater is pretty much just a blanket with sleeves. Oh yes, this is a Friday outfit.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Better the First Time

{Dress: Old Navy, $4}
{Cardigan: LOFT, $25}
{Tights: Vintage, Moms}
{Belt: Vintage, also Moms}
{Flats: Target, $9}
{Necklace: gift}

So I actually wore this a few days ago but never got to get pictures because I was sick. When I wore this for real I styled it with my maroon tights that I wear allll the time. I think I liked it better with the maroon, I just tried to switch it up a little bit for pictures. Better to stick with my first choices... it this case anyways.

Also, since I wore this when it was warm with no snow, I just about froze during these pictures. So I decided to treat myself to warm comfy clothes and a raspberry hot chocolate afterwards. yummm :)

Have a good weekend everyone! I'll be going home to Tennessee for a few days, so posting may or may not be regular. I'll definitely stick to the 30 though!

Oxfords and Hot Carmel Apple Cider

Dress: Ross, $7
Cardigan: Old Navy, $12
Belt: Vintage, My Mom's
Bracelets: Vintage, Rue 21, and My Mom's
Earrings: Claire's, $4
Oxfords: Urban Outfitters, $50

Classes, the Gristmill Coffeehouse, and to run errands around town

Why
Today was one of those days- not the bad kind, the really really super good kind (with an exception or two, but hey, let's focus on the positive.) It started out with waking up to a super sweet text, then later in the day finding out I scored twenty points above the class average on my macroeconomics test, having a pretty easy day at work, having my very first hot carmel apple cider (amazing), and then towards the end of the day, when finally taking blog pictures, realizing how much I really liked my outfit. Funny, I feel like lately I haven't really been myself fashion wise. But today, everything just seemed to fall into place. Ok... so it wasn't an earth shattering good day, but I'll be thankful for what I get :)
