Today was my second day on the job at the State 4-H office. I like it, a lot. This morning my task was to organize service project locations for the Junior High Academic Conference coming up in June. During my break my dad took me to lunch at a deli he used to own on campus, Good Times Deli. If you're ever in Knoxville and want a good sandwich, go there.

Why

For anyone who isn't familiar with the 4-H organization, or if you didn't hear enough yesterday, lol, the 4-H colors are kelly green and white. Even though this skirt has more than just kelly green, I couldn't help but think of 4-H when I first bought it last summer. Since it was pretty warm today I added a simple fitted top and a belt and earrings to pull it together. For my hair I just popped in some sponge rollers to give it a little wave, then braided the side back to keep my hair out of my face.

Today I started work at my summer internship! I'll be working at the state 4-H office in Knoxville doing marketing and event planning for the busy summer months. For those of you who aren't familiar with 4-H, it is a youth development (4-12 grade) organization aimed at developing youth in any of the 27 project areas of their choosing. When I was in 4-H I did public speaking, leadership, citizenship, and clothing (big surprise there, haha). 4-H is an incredible organization, and I truly believe it was instrumental in making me the person I am today. Since 4-H is supported by federal grants, it is available in every state- so if you know any younger kids, get them involved!

Why

Dress at work is casual, but I like to look a little nicer. Black bermuda shorts with a cardigan (office is cold!) and pink flats were a perfect easy look for the day!

Finals Week: Effortless Ideas for Looking Good

Taking finals is many students' worst nightmare, and who can blame them? After working hard for all semester, we get to look forward to a week (or more) in which we have crucial exams in every one of our classes. Despite good preparation, it's almost impossible to prevent extreme lack of sleep. Even though most students rely on casual staples like jeans and t-shirts to get through the last week, it's important to give a good final impression to your professors and classmates.

Although many schools have already finished the dreaded finals week, these outfits are a perfect fit for anytime you need to look cute in a hurry.

Outfit One

The most important thing to consider during a stressful time like finals week is comfort. This outfit consists of comfy classics almost every girl has in her closet: trusty jeans, a loose and flowy T-shirt, and a comfy cardigan. All that's needed to pull this outfit together is a necklace and cute sandals. Add a fun headscarf to help cover greasy roots, and you're set to go!

Outfit Two

This outfit is most similar to what I would wear during a time like finals week. As an easy way to look more put together, I usually don't wear a sash that was made to go with the dress, or skirt, or whatever. Instead I like to pair these items with a contrasting belt and some simple accessories. This outfit was based around the scarf, which ties the red, brown, and blue together. Add a watch to keep yourself on track and you have a cute (and easy) outfit.

Today was my accounting final, and since I wasn't totally prepared for the test I figured I should at least have a cute outfit. Solution- Simple black eyelet dress with my grandma's necklace and some leopard flats; and yes, I am wearing my gold bangles again. They're my warm weather staple.

No snake sightings today :) Only two more days until summertime!

I Think I Should Take a Break From Outdoor Pictures

So I thought I'd try something new with the picture editing this time. It's a nice little change, but I don't think I'll be permanently changing from my normal What/Where/Why layout. Thoughts? Anyways, I picked out this nice little outfit for the day because the weather has been SO nice- nothing too fixed up, just some layering and accessories for a more put together look. Since there are so many nice places around campus I decided to take pictures at the lake today. Although I did get some cute scenery I also had a run-in with my biggest fear...

I was walking back across this bridge leaving the lake when I heard a rustling. I thought it was leaves, but it turned out to be a not so small snake. I know it was probably just a "harmless" snake, but seeing as though they are my biggest fear it scared me... alot. To add to the fear (and the fact that I was wearing sandals) I was stuck on the lake side of the bridge, and had no choice but to keep going across. After I got a LONG way away from it I snapped this picture to show off my braveness... or slight lack of :)
