More from Last Weekend

As a blogger, what do you post about when all you do is go to class?  You milk the weekend for all you can, that's what.  Last Saturday (after taking a practice GMAT...) we headed to downtown Pittsburgh for a little night out.  Trying to be adventurous, we had Ethiopion food for dinner at a little restaurant called Abay (which is actually what my friends call me when we're joking around.) It was REALLY different. You order a couple of things- meats, vegetables, sauces- and then it all comes out on this really thin bread called injera.  The kicker? No utensils.  Instead, you use the injera to scoop it up into your mouth.  Classy.  Let me tell you...

Oh yes, and then we went to the casino.  And I won 36¢

30 for 30 Roundup

Whew, well there it is. All 30 outfits- with just 30 items. The biggest mistake I think I made this time was picking items that were either too similar (the 2 cream sheer tops), unable to be worn alone (the maroon tank top), or I just plain didn't love (the 3/4 length brown jacket and plain brown turtleneck.) Although I only wore the black and white striped cardigan once officially, I am glad I included it because I had several times where I changed into it just to be more comfortable, and I didn't have to feel guilty!

Other than that, I do think I relied on my jeans a tad bit too much; and didn't wear most items as much as I could have.

Here are my favorite outfits from the challenge:

So how did everyone else's challenge go??

Oh Happy Day (26!)

This was my photographer for the weekend :)

What
Dress (worn as skirt): ShopMamie.com, $30
Top: Target, $7
Sandals: Forever 21, $18
Belt: NY and Co., $4
Necklace: Lucky, $30

Where
Primanti's for lunch, and then to take a walk around the nature reserve on campus.

Remember how as a little kid you would jump of random closets, rooms, under beds, etc. to scare your friends? Well, I never grew out of that. Seriously, any of my friends can tell you, I'm constantly creeping around and popping out to scare people. For some reason, it makes me laugh just as hard as it did when I was a kid. So today, I got the bright idea to set a self timer on my camera with the intention of catching my work on film. Seriously I was SO excited about actually catching one of my surprise scares (I'm a dork, I know) However, when I jumped out from behind the corner, Greg (the boyfriend) reacted differently then I expected. Honestly, I never, ever, EVER do the whole kissing pictures thing. But I couldn't help but post this accident one, it makes me smile.

I Like My Size... Most of the Time

What
Me
Top: J.C. Penney's, 97¢
Shorts: Target, $6
Vest: Old Navy, $4
Necklace: Vintage, Mom's
Bracelet: Target, $5
Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4
Sandals: Forever 21, $18

My Sister
Top: Old Navy
Shorts: Target
Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: Lucky and Tiffany's
Sandals: Old Navy

Where
Shopping and taking fun pictures on the lawn during vacation on the Outer Banks

Why
I try to exercise and be healthy, but I'm not afraid to eat ice cream too, so I honestly am one of those people that are fairly happy with their size... until I go shopping and the last remaining item that I fall in love with is not my size. Then I usually wish I was whatever size needed to fit into that item. Usually when this happens I just sigh and walk away, but every once and awhile that thing comes home with me anyways... such was the case with these shorts. They seriously fit perfect in everywhere but the high waist. For $6, a long shirt covers the too tight waist just fine :)

Safari Chic

What
Dress (worn as skirt): Ross Dress for Less, $19
Top: Target, $7
Belt: Target, $17
Sandals: Forever 21, $18
Rings: Vintage
Necklace: Forever 21, $4

Where
To get pictures for What I Wore's Style Challenge- Safari Chic!

Why
This "skirt" is actually a pretty awesome pencil dress. Although I wore it as a dress to work, I decided to add my ruffle sleeved top and studded belt to make this outfit a little more interesting. Today I also went shopping in my mom's jewelry box again- hence all the pretty vintage rings.

Ugh. After a litfetime of working with my stick straight hair, I'm finally able to coax it into whatever shape I want. My hair is a perfect little chameleon... except when its humid outside like today :( I curled and teased my hair from these pictures, but within 10 minutes it completely fell (if you don't believe me, see the photo above.)

Smalltown, USA

What
Dress: Rue 21, $2
Vest: TJ Maxx, 50¢
Heels: Rue 21, $2
Belt: Old Navy, $4
Earrings: Puerto Rican Market, $12
Sunglasses: Rue 21, $5

Where
Work and just a tiny bit of shopping. Usually it's physically impossible for for me to use "tiny bit" and "shopping" in the same sentence- but for $26 I got 2 dresses, 2 tops, a cardigan and a green cargo jacket at Old Navy. Gotta love sales :)

Why
So this isn't even the post office I use, but sometimes I pass it on the way to work, and I love how little and cute it is. It's alot like the town where I live. You can count on your neighbors for anything, and friends are as good as family. I have to admit, as much as I love traveling and going to school up North, at the end of the day nothing is better than my good ol' Southern home :)

May 24: Gray Denim Revival

What
Skirt: Old Navy, $5
Top: Target, $15
Belt: Gap Outlet, $6
Heels: Dillard's (Antonio Melani), $30
Sunglasses: Rue 21, $6

Where
Working all day and then getting Chinese takeout and a movie with my mom :)

Why
I bought this skirt early last year in super sale at Old Navy, but haven't ever worn it because I then went through a phase where I decided I hated denim skirts. I actually saw someone with a really awesome outfit on and I realized, Hey, I have that skirt! So here is my grey denim pencil skirt revival. I actually really did like the way the outfit turned out though. It was casual, but at the same time cute and put together enough for work.

On a more personal note, besides dressing nice, what makes you feel better when you're down? My mom and I used to fight all the time, but ever since college we've gotten SO much closer, hence the Chinese food and movie night, which definitely does make those not-so-awesome days much better :)

Going There Series

Now that it's summertime I'm so excited to do more than just outfit posts. One of the projects I'll be working on is the "Going There" series. It will consist of outfit ideas and advice on what you should wear and bring to any type of event that might occur during the summer. I have so many fun event ideas to start working on, but I need your help! Let me know what you'll be doing this summer and the type of events/places you would like me to work on.

Have a wonderful summer!

The Secret Garden

What
Crew Neck Top: Old Navy, $5
Floral Skirt: Abercrombie and Fitch, $25
Gladiator Sandals: Old Navy, $5
Denim Vest: TJ Maxx, 50¢
Locket Necklace: The Body Shop, $3
Flower Headband: Forever 21, $2

Where
Classes and errands

Why
For some reason this outfit reminded me of the movie/book, The Secret Garden, which is actually quite funny considering I don't even remember what the movie was about. It must just be the floral and locket necklace that has me thinking that. On a different note, I apologize in advance for the probable lack of blogging this coming week. I have finals Monday-Thursday next week that I really should be focusing on. Hopefully I'll have some time to work on a few interesting posts about getting ready quick and dealing with stress though :)
